Join hundreds of runners and walkers in our community for a 5K Run 'n’ Walk on Sunday, May 1, 2022 to raise the voices and visibility of AAPI residents in Belmont!
The run is organized by the Belmont Chinese American Association (BCAA) and sponsored by local businesses. The event will also raise funds to support the Belmont Celebrates AAPI Heritage Fund. The 5K race is scheduled to start at 9:30 am following speeches, singing of the national anthem, and a brief warm-up session. The event is expected to be completed by 11:30 am. Please check back for bib pick-up and other information when they become available. Registration is now open through 4/22/2022. The fee for the day-of registration on May 1 will be higher. Only the first 200 registered runners/walkers will be offered a beautifully designed special AAPI short sleeve running shirt. What are you waiting for? REGISTER TODAY! |
The T-shirt Logo
The logo depicts a white stylized seven-petal Gardenia (栀子花) flower in the center of a round circle. Gardenia is an evergreen flowering plant native to much of Asia and Pacific Islands, acknowledging the diverse origins of AAPI communities. The seven petals and their circular arrangement represent inclusivity, completeness, unity and perfection. White evokes the universal color for purity. The logo was created by Sophie Wang, a 5th grader at Chenery Middle School in Belmont, MA. Sophie is advised by her art teacher Ms. Constance Lane of the Art Students' Exchange in Lexington, MA. |
The 5K Route
The 5K route is the same as the Becca Pizzi 5K route developed by the Belmont Police Department, which starts and ends on BHS track and goes through the Winn Brook neighborhood.
